The role of the manager in talent management is to align employee skills with department needs.

The goal is to have the “right people in the right roles with the right set of skills at the right time.” Talent management and workforce planning includes the following steps:

  • Department and Workforce Assessment focuses on understanding work priorities for the department and identifying the roles, skills, and knowledge that are critical to providing services.
  • Talent Review provides methods and tools to review the strengths and gaps in the department and set the stage for development activities.
