Career Discussion Groups

As an alternative to individual meetings, career discussion groups provide an informal structure to help employees manage their development. These small groups (6-8 employees) are set up on as-needed basis reflecting participant interests. Group members commit to a regular meeting schedule over a set duration after which the group is concluded.

There are two types of groups:

  • Career Planning Group focuses on general career development strategies. Depending on participant interest, it covers multiple approaches to development such as growth in current positions, networking, researching new opportunities, and how to redeploy “transferable” skills in other roles at MIT.
  •

  • Internal Job Search Group supports individuals who are actively job searching at MIT. The discussion focuses on job search strategies, interview techniques, and resume preparation.
