Health, Dental & Vision Overview

Health Plan

MIT provides eligible employees and their families several options for health plan coverage. There are no limitations for pre-existing conditions in any of MIT's health plans.

Pharmacy Benefit

The Pharmacy Benefit for the MIT health plans administered through Blue Cross Blue Shield and Tufts is only administered through Express Scripts, Inc. (ESI). You and your eligible family members who participate in these health plans through MIT will have prescription drug coverage through ESI and will receive a separate ID card from Express Scripts (by mail) that will be required for prescription purchases.

Vision Plan

While vision care is still covered under the medical plans (e.g., check-ups and doctor's office visits), starting in 2008 MIT is providing a new vision plan for certain vision expenses. This new optional plan covers the cost of eyeglasses and contact lenses-the "hardware" of vision care. To participate in this optional plan, you need to choose it as a separate election.

Dental Plan

You and your eligible dependents have a choice of two Delta Dental plans through MIT. Both choices offer comprehensive dental benefits, including a large network of participating dentists, low out-of-pocket costs, claims processing through participating dentists, and direct payments to the dentists.
