HUMAN RESOURCES at MIT
Child Care Advisory Committee

Mission
The mission of the Child Care Advisory Committee is to advise the Center for Work, Family & Personal Life in critical areas related to the development and oversight of MIT’s child care programs, including the Technology Children’s Centers (TCC) located in Cambridge at Eastgate, Westgate, and Stata, and Lincoln Laboratory Children’s Center (LINCC), located on the grounds of Minuteman Regional High School in Lexington.

Meetings
The Committee meets approximately four times annually to discuss issues of current interest and priority. Since 2002, committee discussions have included the establishment of child care enrollment priorities; the establishment of child care scholarships; program evaluation; and child care co-operatives.

Membership
Each year approximately 15 to 20 MIT students, faculty, and staff (campus and Lincoln) are appointed to serve on the Committee by Laura Avakian, Vice President for Human Resources. The Committee’s chair also serves on the Council on Family and Work as a liaison regarding issues requiring broader Institute discussion. The Committee is convened by Kathy Simons, Co-Manager of the Center for Work, Family & Personal Life and staffed by the Center’s Administrator of Child Care Initiatives.
