The MIT campus is a microcosm of the world.

You will find a little bit of everything here. The Institute is home to Pulitzer-Prize winning composers, internationally celebrated artists, and clubs dedicated to every kind of sport and recreation. Look for what interests you—but also be open to events and activities that are new to you. MIT is all about exploration!

Whether you're in the mood for take-out or a long leisurely meal, this handy resource points you to places you can "refuel" on and off campus.

Events

What's happening at MIT today, next week, next month? This online calendar will tell you who is speaking, performing, or gathering where and when.

Green Space

Sometimes you just need a little peace and quiet. Here you'll find pointers to the little pocket gardens across campus—along with a handy downloadable map.

IAP

One of MIT's richest traditions, Independent Activities Period offers a vast array of classes and activities every January. In addition to for-credit classes in serious subjects, members of the MIT community can sign up for cooking classes, engage in the annual Mystery Hunt, and fine-tune their social skills at Charm School. IAP offers hundreds of activities for entertainment, recreation, and learning.

MITAC

Wherever fun is happening, MITAC is on the case. The MIT Activities Committee serves the cultural and recreational needs of the campus, offering everything from hayrides to sleigh rides, shopping sprees to ski getaways, white water rafting to whale watching, and hot tickets to area concerts, major league games, and theatrical events. The best way to stay informed about upcoming events is to join the MITAC mailing list.

Movies & More

Every week, nearly 1,000 members of the MIT community attend movies organized by the MIT Lecture Series Committee (LSC)—a diverse selection of Hollywood blockbusters, foreign and independent films, and classic cinema, many from rare archival prints. LSC offers a "rear window display system," making it possible for the hearing-disabled to watch closed-captioning on selected films. It also organizes concerts and lectures, often in collaboration with other MIT organizations.
