Presenter: Susan Hockfield, President
Cheerful, efficient and patient, this awardee makes a trip to the MIT optician seem like visiting an old friend. Unswerving in his dedication to the satisfaction and comfort of each customer, he supports a wide swath of the MIT community -- those for whom glasses are a nontrivial piece of professional equipment. His nominator -- who once asked him to make a prescription snorkeling mask -- said, ‘I bet we’re the most difficult and demanding group of people to outfit for glasses that one can imagine. A lot of people here do close work and have to have acute vision.’
Fortunately, MIT’s senior optician never loses his focus on perfect service. It is my pleasure to present this award to Roger Proulx.
