The new Sloan building is currently the most ‘green’ building on campus, and today’s awardee deserves much of the credit. As director of Sloan Capital Projects, it was her responsibility to manage the construction—which came in on time and on budget even while incorporating such green features as radiant floor heating, chilled beam cooling, low-flow water fixtures, and a green roof. The design process she managed integrated sustainability, energy efficiency, and usability from the start—creating a new model for MIT to use for projects going forward. She worked well with multiple parties to accomplish these goals, and her dedication and commitment were noted by all.
Her work is largely responsible for a building that will benefit its occupants and MIT for decades. I am pleased to present this Greening MIT award to Cindy Hill.
