Procedures for FY 2009

Revised (June 2008)

The Rewards and Recognition Program provides local units with the opportunity to recognize employees through a variety of approaches:

Financial (i.e., cash payments issued w/ monthly or weekly Payroll). These are used for the annual Infinite Mile Awards or other formal cash award programs in each organizational area.

Non-financial (i.e., tangible/symbolic rewards such as gifts, gift certificates, tickets; and social recognition such as dinners, luncheons, and other group celebrations). These are used for Appreciation or On-the-Spot Awards programs in the departments, labs, and centers.

Funding for this program is allocated locally but budgeted and managed centrally through Human Resources. Please contact the Rewards and Recognition financial administration team at rewards@mit.edu with questions regarding these procedures.
