Career Development Proposal Form

Career-Related Study programs are studies or degree programs that prepare you for advancement in your current or another field of work in which there are realistic full-time opportunities for future employment at MIT.

The Career Development Proposal asks you four questions about the following topics:

  • Degree program or certificate program information
  • School information
  • Graduate exam and graduate exam preparation courses
  • Your previous education
  • Your goals for career advancement at MIT
  • Realistic full-time positions that exist at MIT
Prior to completing the proposal, it is recommended that you first review the questions below and gather the necessary information.

Form Instructions

Please fill out the form below and submit it. A representative from the Human Resources Department will notify you as to whether or not your proposal is approved.

SECTION II. PLEASE ANSWER ALL OF THE QUESTIONS BELOW:
1. Describe your study plan, including the name and type of your degree or certificate program plus the name and address of the school that you will attend. For graduate programs, state whether or not you will take a graduate exam (GRE, MAT, GMAT, etc.) and a graduate exam preparation course.
2. List your previous education (degrees, major fields of study, etc.)

3. Briefly state your goals for career advancement at MIT. How do your goals relate to your study plan? Include an explanation of how further study will enable you to advance in your current or another field of work at MIT.

4. Please list the exact title of at least one full-time benefits eligible position that exists in your chosen field at MIT that might be within your reach once you complete your studies (e.g., Librarian, Administrative Officer, Financial Analyst, Research Scientist, Dean, Human Resources Officer, Writer, Webmaster, Lecturer, Professor, Nurse, Doctor, etc.).

Please note that employees who have "visiting," "affiliate," and "fellow" positions are not eligible to participate in the Tuition Assistance Plan; therefore, those job titles are not applicable to this proposal.
