How to Obtain Reimbursement

When you incur an eligible expense, you file a claim against your Health Care Flexible Spending account. (Download reimbursement forms in box at right.) You will be reimbursed for the full amount of a claim to your Health Care Flexible Spending Account (up to the amount of your annual contribution) regardless of your account balance. You will receive your Flexible Spending within two weeks after filing your claim.

To be reimbursed for services rendered in a Plan Year (January 1 through December 31), you must submit claims before March 31 following the year in which you received services. You must submit original bills for the services; canceled checks are not sufficient. Any money left in your account after March 31 will be forfeited.

Forfeited account balances will not be returned to you and may not be used for any other purpose. If you are also contributing to a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account, you may not move money between the accounts.

Introducing The New Debit Card

MIT is pleased to introduce a debit card for the Health Care Flexible Spending Account. A debit card means more convenience! You may use the debit card to pay for covered expenses at your doctor's office or at many pharmacies with no need to file for reimbursement. Make sure you save your debit card receipts to compare against plan records at year end. To request a second card for another family member, contact Crosby Benefits at 1-800-462-2235 or email servicecenter@crosbybenefits.com.
