Please note that MIT’s online Pension Calculator works best when using Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla or Firefox. Safari is not a compatible browser with this site. If you receive an error message, close and re-open your browser before logging in again. Pension Calculator is intended for estimate purposes only.

Log in to Pension Calculator using the button above or by clicking here.

Enter your MIT ID number: The 9 digit number printed on your MIT ID card.

Enter your password:

FIRST-TIME USERS:  Your 8 digit temporary password is the following:
the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number followed by the 4 digits of your year of birth.

UNSURE OF YOUR PASSWORD:   Click Forgot Password, and you will be assigned a temporary password after being asked your security question.

Establishing a New Password
If you used a temporary password, you must establish a new password. The password must be 6 to 10 alphanumeric characters with at least 2 numbers. This new password cannot be 50% or more similar to any previous password you have established. You will be asked to re-enter your password.

Possible Error Messages
  1. If you receive the error message “either your username cannot be found or you have not specified a password hint,” you have not logged in before, so follow the instructions above for first-time users.

  2. If you receive the error message “invalid log in attempt, please try again,” you have either entered an incorrect MIT ID or password. We recommend you click on Forgot Password.

  3. If you receive the error message “the system is currently undergoing maintenance,” please try logging in later. System maintenance is a process that occurs several times a month so Pension Calculator may be unavailable for a period of up to 8 hours.
     

To View and Print Your Annual Statement
Select the Statement icon to view your Annual Statement. Select the Print icon in the calculator page to print a printer-friendly version. This statement will be available through the end of the year.
 

Preparing an Estimate

  • Enter a projected last day of work: the system defaults to the current date.
  • Your spouse’s/contingent annuitant’s date of birth: enter a date or leave blank as appropriate.
  • Projected annual pay increase: you can enter an assumed annual pay increase.
  • Projected MIT 401(k) Plan contribution percentage: the system defaults to your current employee contribution percentage. You may change your employee contribution percentage for purposes of projecting your 401(k) Plan balance.
  • Projected MIT 401(k) Plan rate of return: you may enter an assumed annual rate of return for purposes of projecting your 401(k) Plan balance.
  • Annual Salary: your annual base salary is on the system; you can change this amount to include overtime, summer salary, etc.
  • Click on Submit to run estimate.
     

View Estimate

  • MIT Basic Retirement Plan estimate is shown on the first screen you view. This estimate does not include your MIT 401(k) Plan projection.
  • Click on See My MIT 401(k) to view projections of your 401(k) Plan balance.
  • Click on Estimate Again to run another estimate.
  • Estimate Screens can be printed; the print icon is located on top right side of screen.
