Your Long-Term Care Insurance coverage

MIT's Long-Term Care Insurance helps pay for the cost of certain necessary diagnostic, preventive, therapeutic, rehabilitative, maintenance, or other personal care services for individuals who are unable to care for themselves. You can continue your coverage even if you leave your job at MIT.

Coverage extends to a variety of care settings outside the acute care unit of a hospital, including

  • traditional nursing home
  • alternative care facilities
  • adult day care
  • home care services

The MIT Long-Term Care Insurance Plan includes patient advocacy services by registered nurses with experience in long-term care. Patient advocates work with you and your family to help you find the right care and make the most of your long-term care coverage.

Whether you are actively employed or retired, you can purchase MIT Long-Term Care Insurance for yourself and your relatives (regardless of their employment status), including

  • spouse or domestic partner
  • parents and parents-in-law
  • grandparents and grandparents-in-law

Coverage options and costs

The cost of your MIT Long-Term Care Insurance depends on your age when you enroll and the amount of coverage you choose.
