If you are a member of one of the Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) and you will reside out of your Plan's enrollment area for more than three months, you must transfer to the Blue Cross Blue Shield Out-of-State Plan to maintain health insurance through MIT during your leave. Upon return to the enrollment area, you may re-enroll for coverage under your prior plan provided you do so within 31 days of your return.

* If you elect to be billed automatically, you are responsible for paying on a monthly basis the amount that was previously deducted from your paycheck. If you are delinquent with your payment beyond 30-days, your coverage will be canceled through the MIT Group Plans and you will be offered coverage under the provisions of the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) for the maximum of 18 months. The cost of this coverage is at 100% of the full cost of the plan plus a 2% administration charge for continuation coverage.
